We're gathering to build skill around a simple, effective somatic tool for stress resilience. This workshop supports understanding of and comfortable practice with therapeutic tremoring. We work with the tremor as a nervous system tool for regulation, to decrease stress and increase resilience. For context, we'll also explore basic nervous system states and how we can know we're shifting between them.
Our exploration will be informed by Nkem Ndefo's work with The Resilience Toolkit and principles of Somatic Experiencing as well as by the wisdom each participant's body will present.
This workshop is led by Char, and is for folks with an existing somatics or bodywork practice.*
We will meet from 1pm-4:30pm on Friday, May 10th at Sadhana in Hudson NY

Char is a multidisciplinary somatics practitioner and loving conflict facilitator committed to interrupting cycles of violence, stress, and trauma on individual, collective, and ancestral levels. Our work centers on supporting capacity (in community) to interrupt systemic barriers to vitality.
When the abstraction of what’s inside us takes on more of a distinct form, we can attune with more intimacy and availability to the truth of our body in the moment.
This class is for people interested in learning human anatomy through both visuals and touch. Connecting structures we can look at in a model or book with what we feel inside ourselves and when touching others alters what and how we know.
We will focus on the head, thorax, diaphragm, pelvis and feet, drawing from Somatic Experiencing and Craniosacral Therapy diaphragm frameworks. Our time will include visual anatomy, palpation of self, partnered activities, and group discussion. I'll be using the emotion of awe as a guide for our time - how we make contact, what we can see, feel, and know.

About Julia Taylor, SEP, LMT, BFA
I've spent 28 years studying anatomy, first as an artist, then as a bodyworker and teacher of Anatomy and Physiology to massage students. Understanding the body has been a source of awe and ongoing wonder for me, both in its physical structures and infinite creative capacity. My training includes Upledger Craniosacral Therapy, Barral’s Visceral and Neural Manipulation, Alignment Yoga, Myofascial Release, and Somatic Experiencing. I bring an intention of unweaving systemic oppression as I integrate these learnings into my practice. In my approach to the body, my time with Sage Hayes, readings of Susan Rafo and Staci Haines and workshops with Marika Heinrichs have impacted me most. I’m the founder and Co-Director of Threshold, a healing space in Philadelphia for queer, trans and non-binary folks. I’m a queer, white, able-bodied parent to an 8 year old, living a short distance from the Wissahickon woods. Learn more about me and my background here.
Learning & practice space for facilitators of partner/group work & conflict sessions.
Loving Conflict is a commitment to everyone having the skills for transformation through difficult relational moments.
We call this work Loving Conflict because we know that we can love that which transforms us, and because we know a key way to love each other is to bring skill to difficult dynamics with each other.
This group is a learning, unlearning, and practice space - in the lineage of Transformative Justice & Abolition - for practitioners wanting to build skill with conflict.
We combine somatic practice and embodied inquiry with reading & discussion, and our goal is for each person to grow their conflict capacity in the ways they identify at the beginning of our cohort.
Spring 2024 cohort is filled; reach out to connect about the Summer cohort.
These 3 hr classes are a chance to somatically experience the nervous system through a systems & power lens. We map our own systems, and work with a 2-page list of somatic tools to help shift nervous system states.
You can expect to:
No more than 7 people learn together in each immersion. Expect a combined group of folks who are new to the model and folks who have been using the model for a while.
Exchange is invited at $43 for the 3 hr immersion
Char is on a trauma work sabbatical and has very limited screen time & session availability as we lean into healing from acute flareups.
We'll be cooking across the valley in 2024... come feast with Beloved Kitchen!
